I just read an interesting article which brought up a bunch of questions. Here are some selected quotes:
“…the need for climate scientists in academia, government institutions and the corporate world was fast increasing…”
OM asks: I thought the science was settled?
”…it is a great way to fast-track a career.”
OM asks: I thought it was about saving humanity?
“Professor Crawford said the looming global crisis generated by food, energy and water consumption…”
OM asks: And climate scientists can solve this “problem”?
”We’re either going to crash and burn, or clever young people are going to find solutions.”
OM asks: Does that mean either we sprout more climate scientists or we’re screwed?
I realize this article is the opinion of one academic trying to highlight an enrollment shortage, but do you think his sentiments about climate science and world problems are common?
